Storage Devices

I will be comparing different media storage devices from past to the present. Some specific devices will include Floppy discs, fixed hard disc, portable hard disc, USBs, dvd/cds, magnetic tapes, and Blu ray. Some questions I will ask are how efficient are they, what are their advantage and disadvantages, is it reliable and how often do people use this type of media storage device. I will also address types of storage media such as optical and solid state storage media and describe the differences between both.

Operating Systems Project (Computer Technology)

Our project is in regards to the different operating systems for cell phones. Each cell phone company has an operating system for their different phones, which is usually updated year by year. We will be discussing the pros, cons, similarities, and differences between the many different operating systems. Apple is a great example for OS updates. Apple just released their newest OS, iOS 7. This is an example of a new OS. We will be going more into detail as our project goes forward.

Social Media

The five top social networking sites are Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and Pinterest. Each have similar purposes, but have varying ways of executing this purpose. Twitter involves “Tweeting”, a way of sharing thoughts and opinions among a group of people. Facebook involves posting pictures and communicating to friends directly. Instagram is solely for posting pictures. Tumblr is a blogging site where people can share pictures and text, and communicate to other bloggers anonymously. Pinterest is another blogging site where bloggers can search up categories that interest them and browse through pictures. There is much controversy over which social platform is best, as all five have their merits and downfalls.

Gaming

There are many different computers on the market that are made for different purposes such as gaming, business, and leisure. Gaming computers have certain parts within them that allow them to take on the intensity of modern video games. Parts like RAM, video cards, CPU, and peripherals like monitors, mice and keyboards allow for an optimized gaming experience.  The biggest and main difference between a regular computer and a gaming computer is the video card.  The video card allows for the computer to handle more intense graphics which games incorporate into an immersive experience. All of these parts allow for the best gaming computer than anyone can have and enjoy!

People today us their phones use their electronics on an everyday basic, our generation utilizes technology for basic things such as taking a picture with a friend and uploading it to your favourite social network to people using it in their jobs professionally to get updates on companies and even do business trough it, there are many verity things to do on your phone now not like before it was only for communicating and maybe have some extra gadgets like an alarm clock and a music player. The only way we are able to do so much in our phones is because there are many applications available to us, today I am going to compare the most popular 2 app stores, Apple app store and Google play. Tablets

My topic is on three of the most used tablets: the Blackberry Playbook, the iPad 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.  Each tablet is similar in some ways, such as a variety apps, email and text message access and Wi-Fi connection. However, they each have their own unique features and new innovative ways to make life easier, such as group video chat, extended battery life and up to 128 GB of data.  I will be listing all of the features of each tablet, their prices and what makes them the most bought tablets on the market today.  I believe tablets are going to be a big part of our technology-filled future, so I will make sure everyone knows about them and why they are so important.

 Input Devices

Leap Motion is an input device for computers that is used in place of the mouse and the arrow keys. It does this by “reading” hand and object motions and translating this in place of mouse movement, clicks, and arrow keystrokes. The Leap Motion is about the size of a USB flash drive and it is powered by a USB cable which also allows it to send its signals to the computer. It is small and portable, which means you are able to bring it anywhere you go. You do not only have to use hand motions to control the Leap Motion because you can also use objects such as chap sticks and pencils for certain apps for drawing, playing or work purposes.

Computer/hardware

Hardware is best described as a device that is physically connected to your computer or something that can be physically touched. Most hardware will contain a circuit board, ICs, and other electronics. A perfect example of hardware is a computer monitor, which is an output device that lets you see what you're doing on the computer.

Without any hardware, your computer would not exist, and software would not be able to run. A webcam is an example of an external hardware peripheral that allows users to make videos or pictures and transmit them over the Internet.

The motherboard is a printed circuit board that is the foundation of a computer and allows the CPU, RAM, and all other computer hardware components to function and communicate with each other.

A video card is an internal circuit board that allows a display device such as a monitor to display images from the computer. A sound card is an expansion card or integrated circuit that provides a computer with the ability to produce sounds that can be heard by the user either over speakers or headphones.
